Ladies and gentlemen I am honored to present STAR WARS VII

Dearest geeks, nerds, freaks, losers and obsessive-compulsive disorder peoples or simply sympathizers (i’m an immune carrier of all the adjectives mentioned in the previous sentence) I’m so excited to introduce the latest episode (VII) of the STAR WARS saga. It’s appropriate to say “sometimes they come back”! indeed the movie’s official website has released the cast and unbelievable include Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) e Kenny Baker (R2-D2)…30 years after return to be our idols! The director will be J.J. Abrams  (Lost, Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness, Mission: Impossible III…). The interesting fact is that the same director has directed Star Trek and Star Wars, putting under the same roof fans of two different religions ;P

J.J. says:””We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.

So I’m very very very excited too 🙂

And now a tribute to the original STAR WARS through the gorgeous concept art by Ralph McQuarrie who gave life to the characters and beautiful environments of the most beloved saga of all time.

From official site

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of such a visionary artist and such a humble man. Ralph McQuarrie was the first person I hired to help me envision Star Wars. His genial contribution, in the form of unequaled production paintings, propelled and inspired all of the cast and crew of the original Star Wars trilogy. When words could not convey my ideas, I could always point to one of Ralph’s fabulous illustrations and say, ‘Do it like this.’

“Beyond the movies, his artwork has inspired at least two generations of younger artists—all of whom learned through Ralph that movies are designed. Like me, they were thrilled by his keen eye and creative imagination, which always brought concepts to their most ideal plateau. In many ways, he was a generous father to a conceptual art revolution that was born of his artwork, and which seized the imaginations of thousands and propelled them into the film industry. In that way, we will all be benefiting from his oeuvre for generations to come. Beyond that, I will always remember him as a kind and patient, and wonderfully talented, friend and collaborator.”

—George Lucas

McQuarrie’s expansive body of work — including character, creature, vehicle, and setting designs for A New HopeThe Empire Strikes Back, andReturn of the Jedi — has left an indelible mark on the world’s imagination, creating what can only be called the unmistakable ‘Star Warsaesthetic.’
